Health care costs have been rising for several years. Expenditures in the United States on health care surpassed $2 trillion in 2006, almost three times the $714 billion spent in 1990, and over eight times the $253 billion spent in 1980. Stemming this growth has become a major policy priority, as the government, employers, and consumers increasingly struggle to keep up with health care costs.

I am a civil engineer by profession and in my practice of this profession I have learned the basic principles of problem solving.

The fundamental problem with this country is the lack of PREVENTION.

Look at any insurance industry other than Health. The code of conduct is very clearly defined for everyone who is insured. For Auto insurance every driver must pass a driving test and follow the rules which are very effectively monitored through Traffic Police. The violators have to pay more through surcharges.

Where is a code of conduct for me if I have to get insurance? Unless the FDA and Federal Health Agency writes a code of conduct through Prevention the health can not be improved.

A surgery for a artery blockage will not stop the same person to be in the Operation Room again in 5 to 10 years.

A surgery in one of the family members will not stop the other siblings from getting the same without changing their life style.

So all the money spent in researching and providing a cure is money down
the drain. The federal tax dollars have to be spent in finding - or since many of us already know- implementing the Preventive methods for the most of the common diseases.

If I am being forced to buy a health insurance - I consider it as an additional TAX. In last 22 years in my life in Massachusetts I have not seen a Doctor for other than regular health checkup. I know how to live healthy and eat healthy. Even I have written articles for the children and new parents to implement the methods available for healthy life style. If you are interested please e mail your request.

This industry is only a money making tool for the bio-industry and drug manufacturers. None of them have any motivation to prevent the root cause.

God Bless America and This WORLD.
